Join Professional Mountain Guides for an exciting climbing adventure
on the smooth granite walls of the White Pass. There are great climbs
for all abilities and no experience is necessary.
This tour begins with a short interpretative drive through Downtown Skagway and up the Klondike Highway. From the Highway we hike for a few moments to the base of majestic rock cliffs recently smoothed by retreating glaciers. Here we will don rock climbing shoes, helmets and harnesses. After a climbing introduction from the guides we will rope up and start climbing the clean granite.
There
are more than a dozen routes to choose from. Some climbs are very easy
and others offer more challenge. Each ends with a stunning aerial view
of the Skagway River, The White Pass Yukon Route Railway, and the surrounding
wilderness. Participants will have the chance to climb many of the routes
and try rappelling on the high cliffs. Professional mountain guides
will share their knowledge and skill in all aspects of climbing. Many
of them have guided on Denali and around the world and enjoy sharing
their stories of adventures in the mountains. Your safety and enjoyment
are always their primary concern.
This tour was featured on the Discovery Channel "Trip of a Lifetime".
This adventure is perfect for those looking for their first climbing
experience, or for experienced climbers looking for a challenge. No
climbing is required and everyone will enjoy the Cliffside snack, and
stunning views. Participants need to be able to hike for a few minutes
over uneven terrain, and should dress in warm clothing that allows for
good flexibility.
Children must be 8 years or older to participate.
Tour duration: 3 hours.
Climbing Shoes, Helmet, Harness and Tasty Snack are provided.
Activity Level: Everyone can participate on this
tour. You can simply enjoy the van tour and watch the climbers scaling
the cliffs, or push your limits on our hardest climbs!

My
husband and I were recently in Alaska for our honeymoon. While we were
there we went rock climbing in Skagway. We had a wonderful tour guide.
I say this because, I have a fear of heights and falling. I have previously
tried rock climbing, but never left the ground because of this. Your
tour guide made me feel so comortable, and reasured me. He helped me
overcome these fears, and I climbed all the way to the top! .
Thank you!

Hello, My daughter & I attended a rock climb
& rappelling excursion in Skagway. We had the blast of our life!!!
My daughter was a quick spider on the rocks, I, a slow spider!! It was
awesome and from a personal stand point a great challenge for me...
the experience was outstanding, the staff were knowledgeable, encouraging,
humorous - great people to hang with. This was our number one adventure
in Alaska....The rock climb will always be a very favorite. Thank-you
for such a great opportunity.

We wanted to express how thrilled we were with the climbing &
rapelling tour in Skagway. There was a wide range of climbing available,
from beginner to advanced. We have climbed over the years and were dually
impressed. Our guide Sean had a plethora of knowledge about Skagway
and the climbs. He was well spoken, funny, intelligent and engaging.
Our sincere thanks, Kristen and Michael
